Homeowners Insurance for a Mobile Homes in Missouri

On average there are 26 tornadoes in the state of Missouri each year. Even though the majority of these storms occur before the end of June, mobile homeowners need insurance protection year round. Just as with any type of dwelling, manufactured home owners insurance offers extra peace of mind in the event something terrible does occur.

There are many different types of homeowners insurance policies that cater directly to mobile homes. As with a traditional home the majority of policies offer protection against theft, fire and certain acts of nature including wind, or hail damage. In addition, liability coverage is offered that protects the homeowner when someone else is injured while on their property. Mobile homeowners insurance policies also may include provisions that provide coverage in the event the home needs to be moved during an emergency. This can occur if the home is positioned in a rural area and a wild fire is approaching or it is located near where a mudslide is predicted.

Another difference that mobile homeowners must realize is that not all insurance policies recognize any additions that theyve made to their home. In fact, the majority of mobile homeowners insurance only covers the home itself. Anything like a deck that is a late addition wont be covered under the scope of the policy. Depending on the company, additional coverage may be purchased for that.

Many people use their mobile homes in Missouri as secondary residences. This can occur if theyve placed the unit at a vacation spot such as a lake. Even if they only utilize the home during the summer or early fall months, they should have the insurance in place all year. Accidents can occur even when a home is unoccupied so its essential to have it protected, in the form of insurance year-round without exception.
