Email Marketing First Five Steps to Starting Out in Email Marketing

So how do you start out in email marketing? First of all, what is email marketing? Email marketing is the process of sending people emails for the purpose of promoting a product or a web site. So one of the first things you have to do when you get started in email marketing is decide what you want to promote. Maybe you already have a web site or a product you want to promote.

So what are the first 5 steps to starting out in email marketing?

1) Get familiar with SPAM and email laws in your country. Some countries, like the US where I live, have very tough SPAM laws and very tough penalties. So learn the law first, so you dont go to jail. The bottom line is they dont want you emailing people who dont want to be mailed, especially the ones that have not requested to be on your list. So in order for you to mail them they have to get on your list first, then if they want out, you have to let them off the list.

2) Get a web site so you have somewhere to send people to be able to join your list. What good is a list, if no one can find it to join it?

3) Get an autoresponder so that you can mail the large number of people whom you are going to have on your list. An autoresponder basically automates the process of emailing your list, and it is imperative in todays email environment.

4) Send traffic to your web page that is signing up people to be on your list.

5) Start emailing your list regularly with informative content.
