The state of Texas consistently has the highest rate in the United States of people that do not have health insurance. Considering that Texas is home to over 23 million people (that is a little more than 1 in 13 for the whole country), this is a huge problem. If you work for a small business or own one, affordable Texas small business health insurance is a topic that is close to your heart.
The problem of no health insurance seems obvious when you are sick, but it is something that is needed all the time, not just when you are sick. Consider an expectant mother who doesn't have insurance. She probably won't get as many pre-birth checkups and won't get as good of care as an insured mother. This can lead to problems not being detected early enough to correct. As the child grows, it won't have as many visits to a pediatrician or maybe misses a few vaccinations. Not only does the child get sick more often, he or she spreads disease to class mates. As a person grows older, lack of routine physicals can lead to high cholesterol not being detected (or any number of easily treated conditions). The heart attack that follows leads to permanent damage that lowers the quality of life and leads to premature death. Still have doubts that seemingly healthy people need health insurance.
When you work for a big company, finding a health insurance provider is not a problem. You have a certain number of choices pre-selected and all you have to do is choose which one you want. If you have never looked into it or considered the cost, you may think that the cost that you pay every paycheck is what insurance costs and not think it is a big deal when you are looking at starting a small business or working for one. The reality of it is that most companies pay up to 80% of the health insurance premiums.
Now, if you are getting ready to start your own small business or have already started a home based business, don't worry, there are a lot of affordable options available to you. They probably won't be as cheap as they are when you work for a big company, but as long as you factor that into your decision to start a business, you will have planned for the extra expense. It is well worth it to leave your 9 to 5 behind so don't give up on your dream.

Do a little research using Google, Yahoo! or MSN and you will be ready when the time comes.
